A man has admitted to murdering Edward Forrester in Blackpool.
William Wilkinson (pictured top right), 65, of Seafield Road, Blackpool, appeared in the dock at Preston Crown Court where he also pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice.
He has been remanded into custody to be sentenced at the same court on 19th of January.
Edward, 55, who goes by Eddie, was last seen in Seafield Road, Blackpool, at 1.31pm on September 1. He was reported missing the following day.
Extensive enquiries involving specialist search teams, uniformed officers, detectives, search dogs and colleagues from Cumbria Police were launched at multiple locations.
On 13th of September, following enquiries in the Cumbria area, partial human remains were found in land off Ashes Lane, Staveley, Kendal. Those remains were later confirmed to be Eddie’s. Subsequent searches have found further human remains.
DCI Mark Haworth-Oates, from our Force Major Investigation, said: “William Wilkinsons plea today is in the face of overwhelming evidence against him.
‘’Thankfully, his plea will spare Edward Forrester’s family and friends the ordeal of sitting through a trial and listening to the graphic details of how Edward was murdered, and in particular the way in which his body was then dismembered and deposited throughout the Blackpool and Kendal area.
‘’I hope the guilty plea brings them some small comfort and they will look forward to the case being concluded at sentencing.”
